So I finally made it to the knitting blog world

I learned to knit about 10 years ago from the classic Teach Yourself How to Knit kits (Susan Bates, I believe), but being a crocheter, I was frustrated learning how to handle the two needles and put all knit related items away.

I was a crochter, damnit! I happily created many a things with my trusty hook and life was good....

Until I happened upon my first quality yarn store in Brooklyn about 3-4 year ago. I was used to buying my yarn at Woolworths when I was growing up and whenever I ran across some in a random store. Walking into this yarn store, I saw nothing but beautiful yarn and patterns. And I also came in contact with knitters and their world. Every where I turned there were knitters and all I wanted to do was meet some crocheters. Crocheters who were proud of their craft and wanted to share ideas, But no, I kept running into knitters or former crocheters who only knitted (traitors!) .

I started to dislike knitters and knitting and sought out evertyhing cute and stylish that could be crocheted. If I was at LYS and they had paltry crochet needles or accessories, I would talk to the owner or sales person about the unfair treatment of crochet and its art. My smile would instatnly turn to scorn scorn as soon as realized a pattern that I liked had the hated "k" or "p" in the directions.

However things soon changed a year ago, on my way home from work, I decided to go in a new direction and to a different subway stop and lo and behold I past a yarn store/cafe and do a double take. I rush inside and it is all beautiful yarn. Of course I instantly buy yarn and but they have no hooks. ARGGGGGH! I was jonesing to get started and was seduced into trying circulars needles (even with my disdain for knitting it did not stop me from buying Stitch & Bitch when it came out and re-learning how to cast on) and for the next couple of months my mind was consumed with creating and completing:

And it became my first knitting project!

After I finished my wrap, I created and crocheted a hat and neck warmer (two different sets) for a friend!

So I now knit and crochet and this little blog will cover my creations or replications!
